A Culinary Evening to Remember: Dining at Astrid & Gastón in Lima
Every so often, a dining experience rises above expectation and becomes something truly unforgettable. Last night in Lima was one of those moments.
Kareem George and I had the pleasure of dining at Astrid & Gastón, a restaurant that has long been considered a cornerstone of Peru’s culinary renaissance. Housed in a beautifully restored 17th-century mansion in the San Isidro district, the setting is as elegant as the cuisine—warm, refined, and rich with history.
From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, striking that perfect balance between attentiveness and ease. Each course was a masterclass in creativity and craftsmanship, showcasing the best of Peru’s ingredients with bold technique and delicate precision. Thoughtfully paced and artfully presented, the tasting menu wove together tradition and innovation in a way that left us both inspired.
Whether it was the nuanced flavors of the seafood, the use of native Andean herbs, or the subtle interplay of textures and colors, each dish felt like a love letter to Peruvian culture—modern yet deeply rooted in place.
Astrid & Gastón isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a destination—one that invites you to slow down, savor, and be surprised.
Without question, it was one of the most memorable culinary evenings I’ve had in recent years.
