Exploring Cairo's Diversity
Kareem George here, immersed in the rich history of Cairo’s vibrant Coptic community this morning. Our journey took us to several of the city’s most prominent churches, each with its own unique story and architectural charm. From the soaring domes and intricate iconography to the quiet corners that have witnessed centuries of devotion, every space offered a glimpse into a faith that has shaped Egypt for generations.
We also had the privilege of visiting the stunning Ben Ezra Synagogue, a hidden gem tucked into the heart of Old Cairo. Its ancient walls, delicate arches, and historic significance make it a testament to the enduring presence of Jewish life in the city. Walking through its halls, you can almost feel the centuries of prayer and community life that have taken place within its doors.
As always, our dynamic guide, Marwa Abbas, brings each story and historical detail to life, transforming every stop into an unforgettable experience. Her insights connect the dots between Egypt’s past and present, helping us see beyond the surface of these sacred spaces.
Believe it or not, all of this has been just the AmaWaterways pre-tour. This afternoon, we will board the lovely AMA Lilia to begin our journey down the Nile. From the bustling streets of Cairo to the serene waters of the world’s most famous river, we are ready to explore even more of Egypt’s ancient wonders in comfort and style.
