As promised, sharing first impressions and an inside look at my chic digs onboard Ponant’s Le Bougainville.
Kareem George here in our lovely suite onboard Ponant’s Le Bougainville: elegant, simple and comfortable. I appreciate the soothing neutral color palette and textural touches of several of the decorative elements of the room. The size is also just right for us, adding the luxuries of a walk in closet, inviting sofa and spacious balcony with chairs, tables and loungers. Magnifique!
Each evening begins with a crisp aperitif before sitting to dinner with an unobstructed ocean view. The Ponant dining experience is casual, yet elegant, and always delicious.
On this voyage through the Greek Isles we have enjoyed wonderfully fresh fish, octopus, calamari, flavorful tomatoes and other vegetables, savory local cheeses, and much more…
Then there are the delicious French breads (and butter!) that are always offered. I have yet to be able to resist (sigh). So, by this point I figure, why not have a dessert?!

Not sure what took our breath away more, the hundreds of steps or the stunning views! Amorgos and its spectacular cliffside monastery are a W O W. We are so fortunate to have these experiences and grateful to Ponant for a wonderful journey thus far. This special itinerary with Smithsonian Journeys is taking us off the beaten track where there are no crowds yet iconic sites nonetheless…
Our visit to Santorini offered a completely different perspective. Instead of navigating the usual crowds, we enjoyed champagne in hand while taking in shimmering panoramic views from the comfort of our Ponant voyage. Following an intriguing lecture from Smithsonian expert Peter Bobrowsky, we cruised through the famous caldera, appreciating the island's remarkable geology and history from an unforgettable vantage point.
