Germany Inspires: Kareem George at the German National Tourist Board’s Industry Day
Kareem George often ponders what it would take to inspire more Americans to discover Germany. Beyond the magnificent castles, world-class museums, extraordinary hotels, and beautiful landscapes, the answer lies in something equally important: people, relationships, and a shared passion for travel.
His remarkable week exploring Germany’s Lake Constance region culminated in one of the highlights of his annual visit as a member of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) U.S. Advisory Board: Industry Day!
Connecting the People Behind German Tourism
For those unfamiliar with the GNTB, the German National Tourist Board is responsible for promoting Germany as a travel destination around the world. Working with tourism partners throughout the country, it helps introduce international travelers to Germany’s remarkable diversity, from celebrated cities to lesser-known cultural treasures.
Kareem is especially honored to serve on the GNTB’s U.S. Advisory Board, which brings together senior leaders from the American travel industry to share expertise, identify emerging trends, and help shape how Germany is presented to the U.S. market.
Each year, the Board gathers in a different German region for several days of immersive exploration, meaningful conversations, and firsthand discovery. This year’s destination, Lake Constance, certainly did not disappoint!
And then comes Industry Day, when everything comes together.
A Day of Ideas, Inspiration, and Collaboration
Held this year in the beautiful island city of Lindau, Industry Day welcomed approximately 110 tourism professionals from across Germany. Hoteliers, destination representatives, tour operators, and other industry partners came together for a full day of lively discussions, presentations, networking, and the exchange of ideas.
The conversations explored everything from evolving American travel preferences and the growing appetite for authentic cultural experiences to the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence.
Why does this matter?
The United States is Germany’s largest overseas tourism market, making it essential for Germany’s tourism industry to understand what inspires American travelers. By sharing perspectives and learning from one another, tourism professionals can better connect visitors with the experiences, places, and people that make Germany such a rewarding destination.
The Power of Personal Connections
For Kareem, however, the greatest pleasure of Industry Day is always the personal connections.
It is an opportunity to meet the people who bring Germany’s destinations and experiences to life, hear their stories, discover their ambitions, and explore ways to collaborate in introducing more travelers to this extraordinary country.
These are the relationships that enrich our work at Culture Traveler and, ultimately, the journeys we create for our clients.
Travel is about far more than choosing a destination or booking a hotel. It is also about the people who share their knowledge, open doors to new experiences, and help travelers discover something they might otherwise have missed. Maintaining these relationships allows us to keep learning, finding inspiration, and developing a deeper appreciation for the places we recommend.
A Lasting Love for Deutschland
After more than two decades of traveling throughout Germany, Kareem continues to discover something new with every visit. That enduring sense of discovery is precisely why he loves sharing this country with others.
Heartfelt thanks to the German National Tourist Board, the wonderful hosts in Lindau and the Lake Constance region, fellow Advisory Board members, and the many passionate tourism professionals who made this year’s gathering so memorable.
Kareem returns home with new friendships, fresh inspiration, and even more reasons to love Deutschland!
Germany simply inspires. And so do the people who bring it to life.
